From this week’s NY TImes Magazine:
I’ll comment over the weekend… Much to say about this.
Well, lot’s has happened since I wrote last. Finally, my healing has progressed by leaps and bounds in the last couple of weeks. I’m off of the pain meds pretty much (occasional Advil) and yesterday I did DOG POSE with out the ropes! 3x! wow. So now it’s just monitoring the inflammation and packing up for India. I’m really looking forward to 2 weeks at the beach in Goa… then I’ll just see what happens when I get to Pune. The big practice is NOT to over do things. That’s the challenge.
Thank you everyone for the well wishes. The cast is off and physical therapy is more difficult than ANY yoga at this point!
MONDAY CLASSES BEGIN JANUARY 14.
WEDNESDAY CLASSES BEGIN JANUARY 16.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28 WAS THE LAST FRIDAY CLASS UNTIL SPRING.
So sorry about this, but I couldn’t find any qualified Iyengar substitute teachers to cover Fridays.
YES, I am going to India. I will resume teaching on SUNDAY, APRIL 13.
Started physical therapy. Drove for the first time in 5 weeks. Exhausted. More later. Thank you for all your prayers.
God, bone growth, and Dr. Kwock willing the cast comes off tomorrow and I start physical therapy.
Thank you everyone for all your healing words of love, calls and emails. The last two weeks have been quite a test of patience and understanding. I am feeling much better finally… less meds and getting out a bit, but still not driving. The big shift happened last week when I admitted to myself that there is no way I can be teaching right now. By getting off of my own back: “Oh it’s just a broken wrist!” and realizing how serious a break/surgery of this sort is, I have now given myself space for healing. I have been practicing some wonderful chi kung exercises that have been very profound (more on that later). I have done a little yoga… but slowly. Standing poses are particularly challenging, even though my legs are intact! India, especially the month in Pune at the Iyengar Institute, is still up in question pending my Dec. 17 appointment and Xray. At this time I hope the cast will come off and I can begin physical therapy.
So with great sadness, but with full respect for what I know is right for myself, there will be subs for all the classes until the end of the year. I will update the schedule at the right later today. There will be some class cancellations around the Christmas/ New Year holidays. And there will be a change in the schedule and timings in January. A big email will go out soon with all the info on it. I hope to be able to teach a special class or two around New Years to show that I’m still alive and to share what I’ve gleaned through this process.
Again thanks.
and recent x-ray. 8 screws and a plate. Cast is on for 6 weeks. No pt until it’s off.
Teaching? Next week maybe? Still trying to come to terms with all of this.
Thank you all for your patience…
