Greetings from Bangalore

Filed under: India, Misc. Musings — bb @ 3:53 am

Hello Yogis, long time no communication. Internet access from Goa and Hampi was very weak. Even with Mohan Baba’s satellite dish on the roof in Goa, “Mr. Ek Bar” (one bar) signal too slow for posting. Now in Bangalore, the Silicone Valley of India. High speed, AND coffee service with a smile. Coffee in Karnataka is AMAZING. As Guruji and KPJ said, it IS the SOMA of the Kali Yuga. Sweet, strong and addictive. Today we fly to Calcutta (Kolkata) for more darshans and travel. I will post comments separately, and back dated, so scroll down. Send emails to bxboris@yahoo.com. “All the best” -Barbara

Veera Anjeneya in Bangalore

Filed under: India, Misc. Musings — bb @ 3:54 pm

9 kilometers from MG Road (every big city in India has a Mahatma Gandhi Road) in a nice suburban area of Bangalore by the Radha Krishna ISKON temple is a GIANT Hanuman. Our whole trip to Bangalore was focused on him. Some Neem Karoli Baba Maharaji devotee, met years ago, sent Martin a postcard mentioning him. This postcard materialized out of nowhere this year, so we went. Totally worth the trip. Hanumanji here is a GIANT 22 by 14 foot carved black stone. The temple is built around him, with scaffolding and rigging all engineered up to do the abishek (ritual bathing) over the top of him. We have visited him twice. Martin is there now for darshan #3. He has great silver booties, 10 flower malas, 5 silver necklaces, and many pukka (proper) brahmin priests chanting to him in Sanskrit. Everyone on Sunday morning, dressed in their best saris came for worship. It was the BEST Hanuman puja I have every seen. While Martin tried to take a picture (hard at that scale…) I sat and slowly read the Hanuman Chalisa, contemplating the meaning and watching the crowds. A savory rice prasad was offered, but since it had peanuts in it, I had to skip it. Saturday night at the temple was a Bharatnatyam Dance performance. All you “Bollywood Workout” dancers will be happy to know that deer-lotus hands are proper Baratnatyam! I will post a picture when possible.

Text Me at: 011 91 9871 575 604

Filed under: India, Misc. Musings — bb @ 4:08 am

In India, most people don’t have their own computers… so most communication is done by TEXT MESSAGING, as most everyone has a cellular phone. There are CELL TOWERS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You look out the window of the hotel, there are 2 on the roof right next door. In the fields, on temples, everywhere. Take that Woodstock. I’m thinking of calling the phone company and just getting them to install the tower at 21 Witchtree. Forget about all the town arguing. HEY! What about installing it on Tischler’s property on the corner? Text me at the number above. Phone does not have voice mail, but a text message costs pennies and it doesn’t matter time of day. Say HI! Let me see who among you is geeky enough to do it!

The real reason I’m going to India

Filed under: India, Misc. Musings — bb @ 2:00 am

now that I’m gone, the truth can come out….

SRKBC SHAHRUKH KAHN

“Namaskar and salaam. Good evening to the Serbians, Chinese, Egyptians (says in these languages), good evening to the British and hiya howdy to the Americans. Whatever language is used, the meaning is the same. Good evening ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. I, Shahrukh Khan welcome you all to KBC. I read a news item, a small one, but the message in it was big. A priest in a Devi Durga temple in Vishakapatnam is a Muslim, Sheikh Mira Sahib. This is not something new in our country. Thousands of Muslims stitch the clothing for the Krishna-Radha idols in Brindavan, and many Hindus take care of Dargas. I want these small issues to become a big message for all of us. And I want all of us to be together just like the questions and answers on KBC. Just like the questions are of different types, the people are too. But the answer is the same…Bharat, Hindustan, our India.”

SNOW DAYS (yeah, right…)

Filed under: Classes, Schedule — bb @ 11:17 pm

Well, there IS a chance that it might snow heavily again, someday. All the sub teachers live on the other side of the river. So if it looks like a bad snow day, please call them to confirm that they are driving over to Mt. View Studio to teach and that the class is not canceled.

Wednesday Night Advanced Class this Spring

Filed under: Asana, Classes, Schedule, Yoga — bb @ 9:00 am

I’ve agreed, and it’s final,

Wednesday nights, 6:30-8:30, when I return will be an ADVANCED COURSE, paid for by SERIES ONLY.

This is so we can progress toward the more advanced asanas, without having to go back to the basics each time a new student shows up. There will be prerequisites for attending. I will also be offering a Yoga Studies Course for Teachers, more on that to follow. If you enroll in the Yoga Studies Course, you must enroll in the Advanced Class. You need not enroll in the Yoga Studies Course if you attend the Advanced Class. Invitations to qualified students to attend the Advanced class will go out in the spring. Contact me if you want to be put on the list if you are not a regular student of mine. I will let you know when this starts when I get back from India, and the price.
