Organised by MTDF officials (Meghalaya Tourism Development Forum) the guitarists started playing the immortal Bob Dylan classic, Knocking on Heaven’s Door.

Officials say that they counted the number of people participating in the event five times over.

They announced that no less than 1,730 guitarists played the song together on Friday.

Reminds me of the kids singing John Denver in the Dehra Dun Barrista Coffee Shop in 2004.
That’s Usha at the end of the video, drinking our favourite treat: Ice Coffee Ice Cream. Marianne, Usha and I were celebrating my last day in Rishikesh that year. I was getting very sentimental, and then the kids started up…  And in the USA we do Kirtan!

Video Interview with BKS Iyengar

Fantastic interview with Guruji! Approximately 20 minutes long total, in 3 parts. Make sure you watch part 3, when Guruji gets Anjali Rao up into Sirsasana. The Institute looks a bit tidier than usual, fyi. It is usually not so “clean” looking! What’s with that bolster pile and the propped up back benders?

For Full Transcript of Interview Click Here

Aanjali Rao (CNN): As far as Iyengar yoga is concerned, how does that help people?

BKS Iyengar: You know, I saw lots of people practicing yoga where there is absolutely no foundation or firmness in the presentations, and I thought that this type of yoga is (more…)

Halloween Hip Opening Workhshop

Filed under: Asana, Classes, Schedule, Yoga — bb @ 3:43 pm

Three hours, Friday, October 26th from11-2 at Mt. View Studio, Woodstock.

3 Hours? Really? Can I do it? Will I be able to walk afterwards? Will she have the heels and whips out? (*** oooooh, scarey!!****) Of COURSE you can do it! With a long warm up, fantastic Iyengar sequencing and alignment, the three hours will fly by. All levels and styles of yogis and goblins are welcome: practicing Iyengar students or not. My only request is that you do NOT have a serious knee or hip injury/problem. There will not be time for custom work, come to a private session for that. In this class we will do Surya Namaskar, Standing Poses and seated asanas on the floor.

This is a perfect chance to warm up for some serious ‘Trick or Treating’ or dancing over the weekend.

Costumes or Masks are optional.
But there is a GREAT (homemade) PRIZE for best costume.

Those coming in costume, paying will get $5 off the price of admission.

Cost of workshop: $40 without costume, $35 with costume.

For those with class cards, here’s the math:

2 hour class card = 2 spots (2 x $18 = $36) ($1 back if in costume)
1 1/2 hour class cards = 2 spots (2 x $14 + $10 cash = $36) (+ $9 if in costume)

No need to sign up in advance, Mt. View Studio holds LOTS of spooky people.
But if you let me know you are coming it will make the checking in at the door a bit more efficient. Please arrive by 10:45 so we can start on time.

Come and have a great scarey time!

This Workshop wil take the place of the regular Friday Level II-II Class.
