Winter Solstice Class “From Darkness to Light”
10-12 noon, $20

Celebrate the Winter Solstice with connection to the true Light of the Self. We will be practicing the ever popular 2 hour Anxiety / Restorative sequence, half restorative and half energizing. Forward extensions, backward extensions, and restorative laying around asanas. It’s the perfect way to begin the emergence from the darkness of Winter to the light of Spring. If you have YOGA BLANKETS, please bring them to this class so we all will have enough extra props. Thanks.

This class is $20. Those of you with hour and half class cards pay an extra $4 and use a spot on your card.

It’s Never Too Late to Have a Happy Holiday

Filed under: Misc. Musings, Schedule — bb @ 5:46 am

Elizabeth is a good friend and student of mine, and I, a student of hers.
Please read on for some wonderful clarity.

Dealing with Stress in the Holiday Season
by Elizabeth Lesser, is the cofounder and senior advisor of Omega Institute

Before you continue reading this, do me a favor. Put down what you’re holding (in your hand or your head)—your shopping lists, your third cup of coffee, your date book, the phone call you should be making—and sit quietly for just 60 seconds. Take in a full breath, let it pool gently in the bottom of your lungs, and then release it slowly. Inhale deeply again, and exhale with an audible sigh. If you’re at work, don’t worry what your colleagues might think—this time of year everyone would love to sigh deeply, and often. Inhale again; exhale with a long “aaahh”. With each exhalation, let your shoulders drop and your jaw relax. Do this a couple of times, with your eyes closed. Let the “aaahh” sound emerge from your belly, move up into your heart, and drift out into space as you exhale, slowly, smoothly, steadily… Now, open your eyes, and continue reading.

BKS Iyengar turns 90 years old
Woodstock will celebrate & honor him
during the
Sunday Morning 10-11:30 General Level Class
at Mountain View Studio

We will chant mantras for continued long life of Guruji, reminisce on his life and teachings, practice a sequence especially designed by the yoga master himself and of course, birthday cards, candles and cake.

The proceeds from Sunday’s class will go directly to the Bellur Krishnamachar & Seshamma Smaraka Niddhi Trust (BKSSNT). This Trust was formed by Guruji with a vision to serve his ancestral home in India, Bellur with all the necessities. This will help not only the villagers but also the children of villages near by Bellur. There are projects of building a yoga hall for the children, construction of a 50,000 gallon water drinking water tank for the village, and a high school for girls, who generally discontinue education after 7th grade since there is no good school nearby.
