Did anyone other than me get awed by the final sloka that Christian read at savasana during the Heart of Iyengar Yoga Winter Woodstock Intensive? I got my book from India this week. Here it is for all of you to ponder.
Vijnana Bhairava, Commentary by Swami Lakshman Joo, Indica Books 2007
Sloka 92:
vyomakaram svamatmanam dhyayed-digbhir-anavrtam,
nirashraya citih shaktih svarupam darshayet-tada.One should meditate on one’s own body in the form of the vast sky, unlimited in all directions, then the Power of Consciousness is free from any support and reveals her own nature.

“Post-Indian Lunch Asasna”
I’m almost finished typing up my notes. When I am I’ll post them and you all can add to them!
Here we go again! Test yourself and learn the Sanksrit names of the Asanas.
The best way to do this is print this out, cross off “asana,” and look at the root and guess. Try to remember what you did. I gave most of the “answers” in class.
Remember to search out the connection with the tail bone to the shoulder blades in all of these beginning back extensions.
NOTE: not all classes this week will do ALL of these asanas. This is the *ideal* sequence.
And as last week you can find the answers and the ‘prize’ here: MARCH 22 ‘BABY’ BACKBENDS.

Why is this categorized under YOGA? Because the first of the Yamas is AHIMSA, non-violence. And if you eat meat, this violence is in your cells and on your conscience.
Here you are: the sanskrit sequence for today’s class. See how many you can figure out! Remember to drop the “asana” at the end of each to find the word root.
