Saturday, December 26, Boxing Day Digestion Class Reprise, 1- 2:30 p.m.

After the passion you all exhibited in the Post Thanksgiving Digestion Class, let’s do it again and work off Christmas Dinner! Be prepared for a hot sweaty fast class. This class is open to all levels and students of all styles of yoga. But please, no absolute beginners or major injuries for this class. We will be moving too fast for your safety, and there won’t be time for individual attention. The sequence will be similar to Thanksgiving’s but a half hour shorter.  $15 or use your class card.

Sunday, December 20, Winter Solstice Class “From Darkness to Light,”
9:30-11:00 a.m.

Celebrate the Winter Solstice with connection to the true light of the Self. We will be practicing the ever popular Anxiety / Restorative sequence, half restorative and half energizing. (Forward Extensions, Inversions and Back Extensions)  It’s the perfect way to begin the emergence from the darkness of Winter to the light of Spring.  Drive home warm, worked and shanti after a nice quiet savasana with the snow all around beautiful Mountain View Studio.

Cost is $15 or use your Class Card.

We will chant mantras for continued long life of Guruji, reminisce on his life and teachings, practice asasnas beloved by the yoga master himself and of course, birthday cards, candles and cake (?!)

All around the world, Iyengar Students are doing “3 for Bellur:” a suggested $3 extra donation for the Trust. I will be donating the proceeds of Sunday’s class as well.

The proceeds from Sunday’s class will go directly to the Bellur Krishnamachar & Seshamma Smaraka Niddhi Trust (BKSSNT). This Trust was formed by Guruji with a vision to serve his ancestral home in India, Bellur with all the necessities. This will help not only the villagers but also the children of villages near by Bellur. Some of the landmarks already achieved are a free hospital, water treatment facilities, India’s first temple dedicated to Patanjali, and the free primary and high school which supply uniforms, books and a hot lunch, often the children’s only meal of the day. From last year’s Birthday Class, we collected and donated $501 to the Trust!

Well, I’ve shoveled myself out but I am STILL WAITING for the driveway to be plowed…  Got stuck once already, so… Check back by 3pm to see if class is on. I will know by then. 4:30 will be an energetic Level I-II Class and then you can stay for a  super quiet cozy and warm Restorative Class at 6:15.
