FRANCIOS IS RETURNING TO WOODSTOCK!

OCTOBER 2 & 3, 2010
Saturday and Sunday
9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. both days with a light lunch break

Held at
Barbara Boris’s Home Yoga Studio
21 Witchtree Road
Woodstock, NY 12498

$220 for all 10 hours of teaching
$125 for single day

In the Fall of 2008, I attended an Iyengar Intensive with FRANCOIS RAOULT in Rochester, New York. I was so inspired and excited by his teaching that I immediately invited him to come to Woodstock to present to you his knowledge of Iyengar Yoga. Last Fall’s workshop on Pranayama and Ayurveda was well attended. Here’s your chance to see him again… or for the first time.

I realized then that many Woodstock students have a limited view of yoga. We are a small town. But the power of following a strong system like Iyengar Yoga is that the lineage is CLEAR. The beauty of the teaching comes though as you study with different teachers. François is a master teacher:  in Yoga and the related Indian arts and sciences.

For those of you who were “scared off” by previous weekend intensives, this seminar is for you! The majority of the work will be on Tadasana (Mountain Pose) “just standing around!” In this yoga seminar we will practice postural awareness and alignment in daily life postures as well as in standing and sitting yoga asanas. The yoga and the asana will be presented clearly. It will not be a difficult class asana-wise. But I assure you that you will come away from the weekend inspired for your fall practice season of yoga. NON-IYENGAR STUDENTS are WELCOME TO COME. This will be a very inclusive workshop.

We will also look at François’s internationally acclaimed slide show on Posture. (more…)

“Saturn Saved Me” by Sharon Smith

Filed under: India, Misc. Musings — bb @ 5:00 am

Saturn Saved Me

Some of you attended Sharon Smith’s Tao of Bone Health Chi Kung Workshop last November. She is a good friend of mine, and fellow traveler on the dharmic path in India. Sharon is now about to start editing her documentary film Saturn Saved Me about spiritual pilgrimage to India and the tradition of consulting astrologers and other fortunetellers. There is a fascinating clip on her site. It shows the amazing absurdity and beauty of India. And with that the challenge it is to hear how you will live, die, and still stay on a path of courage, hope, and choice. She needs $700 more by this Wednesday, September 23 to get funding for the edit of this film. Help any way you can. Even $10 will make a difference to seeing her vision materialize!

It’s OVER!!!

Filed under: Assessment, Iyengar, Misc. Musings — bb @ 5:35 pm

Hello All,

Thank you so much for all your support with this Iyengar Teaching Certification Assessment. I took the written and performance examinations on Friday and did the Teaching Assessment this morning. All went well. I was over prepared for the written exam, performance went fine (I wore knee supports) and I was calm and ended on time in my teaching. Now I am resting in my Austin hotel room. A bit wired/tired.  Not much sleep last night (preparing and up early). I return home on Sunday night.

Ina is teaching Sunday’s 9:30 General Level Class.

I find out if I Pass or Fail on Sunday night. Check back here then or on Monday for the results.

If I pass, I will be officially a “Teacher in Training/Introductory 1″ in the Iyengar System. I will need to take another assessment within the next two years to become a fully Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor.

Thank you to everyone who have helped me in this process. More next week. I have lots of ideas for future classes and programs. Don’t forget to sign up for the Beginner’s Series. It starts next Friday. It will show you what I’ve learned in this process.
