Trayambakam
Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra
trayambakam yajamahe
sugandhim pushtivardhanam
urvarukamiva bandhanan
mrityor mukshiya mamritat
I worship the thee-eyed Lord Shiva,
who is full of sweet fragrances and noursihses all beings.
May he liberate me from bondage of death for the sake of immortality,
as easily a as the cucumber is severed from the vine.
This is the great mantra of liberation. It is said to protect one from accidents while traveling, to release one from the bad karmas that may be coming, and to insure long life. It is said on birthdays.
