ABOUT CLASS LEVELS:

MONDAY’S LEVEL I is a more BASIC class: it is a shorter length of time; good if you have injuries; good if you don’t want to work so hard; and an excellent class for absolute beginners. Modifications of the postures given. Long final relaxation.

WEDNESDAY’S LEVEL I-II is good for students who: 1) are in decent shape but have never done yoga; 2) have been practicing yoga, but are new to Iyengar Yoga; 3) it is a good review for returning students who want to work slower. Sirsasana (headstand) will be introduced but students unable to do it will have options of poses working up to it. If you have injuries, are an absolute beginner, or are really out of shape, come to Monday’s Level I instead, we work much slower there.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT RESTORATIVE ON HOLD UNTIL THE FALL There is nothing special needed for this class. All students are invited, from all schools of yoga and with all levels of experience. Come, get the props and blankets out of the cabinet, and prepare of an hour plus of guided relaxation in a number of different poses. Simple pranayama will be introduced, but if you are too tired or stressed, JUST REST! Set yourself up for deep healing and relaxation.

LEVEL II-III class is an intermediate/advanced level class. You should be comfortable in Sirsasana (headstand, with the wall is OK), Handstand, Urdhva Dhanurasana (full wheel pose with straight arms), Salamba Sarvangasana (shoulderstand) and Sanskrit asana names. At least two solid year’s experience in yoga practice is necessary (Iyengar preferably) or my permission to attend the class. This is a strenuous and meditative two hour class. If you are having a lot of injuries right now, please attend Level I or Level I-II class or sign up for a Private Lesson so we can work out alternative postures for you.

GENERAL LEVEL all students at all levels are welcome. This class will have options for the more advanced students. The basics of Level I will be reinforced and built upon. If you are a regular practicing yogi, but new to Iyengar yoga, please come to this class before attending Level II-III. If you have never practiced yoga before, please start in Level I.
