Bathe in Ganga Go swimming in Ganga
This is a Pilgrimage town, meaning not GOA! There is a place further up Ganga (walkable distance) where you can swim, but the currents are swift. Do not bring a bikini! One piece ok, swimming in clothes is better. For BATHING in Ganga, it is best to “bathe” in your clothes. This is not swimming, but a ritualistic “dip’. Any lightweight pants and top (watch the wet t-shirt stuff) will work for ladies, just have a cloth to cover yourself right away, as there WILL be stares, no matter what. Ganga will still be cold in March, but the air will be warm so it’ll be great.
Sleep & Dream
Swami Sivananda Ashram The area we are in was first settled by Swami Sivananda. You can visit his living quarters, bathe at his ghat, do kirtan, nightly satsangs (every other night in English) and Bhagavad Gita recitation, great bookstore, and his samadhi (body shrine).
