The dates for 2008 have finally been set. The course will take place the week before Easter. Ending on the Tuesday after Easter.
IYENGAR YOGA INTENSIVE, RISHIKESH, INDIA
March 17-25, 2008
Usha Devi and I will be teaching our fifth annual intensive at Omkarananda Ganga Sadan.
This is a VERY intense full-on course! (Meaning no time for sight-seeing India during the course.) 4 hours of asana each day (I teach the morning 2 1/2 hour class, Usha the evening 1 1/2 hour). Yoga philosophy classes (text to be determined) every other day by Usha’s son, Siddhartha Krishna. There is Yoga Satsang with me every other day discussing more yoga philosophy and asana practice. All of this on the banks of the Ganga in the most beautiful, clean yoga studio in India. This retreat fills up fast, so reserve your space online ($25) at the website above and let me know if you are truly interested in attending so I can arrange a room for you. The cost of all classes is $100. YES, only $100. And this money goes to support Omkarananda Ashram village schools in the Himalayas. Housing is available very cheap at the Ganga Sadan Guest House or hotel accommodations are nearby at The Great Ganga also at very reasonable rates.
NOTE: I am not “bringing a group” to this course, but I will help you get there if you are unfamiliar with India. It usually sells out, maximum 40 people, mostly European Yogis in their 20s-30s traveling around India.
I need final confirmation regarding your rooms at either Omkarananda Guest House Rishikesh and your arrival date / appx time as soon as possible. Rooms will book up quickly, so I need to tell them now.

All rooms will have ceiling fans. Most rooms have a balcony overlooking Ganga.
Without AC Rs. 350 = $8.00 /night

The weather will be comfortably warm, and cool at night. March in Rishikesh is changeable. It could snap to HOT at any time. There could be rain and storms.
The $ Dollar cost is approximately based on the conversion rate of Rs 45/ $1. You will need to pay in Rupees, so bring travellers checks or cash to change. There are ATM cash machines in Rishikesh. No credit cards accepted at Omkarananda Ganga Sadan. Credit Cards are OK at The Great Ganga. Last year’s yogis who stayed at The Great Ganga paid appx. $500 for 2 weeks room, massages in room, room service, meals, etc. $35/night.
SUGGESTED ITINERARY

This is the “tightest” itinerary possible if you need to fly over to India and get back right away. There will be ONE day off on the course for a group trip somewhere nearby. Most students use this day to REST. This itineray does NOT allow sight-seeing. No Taj Mahal, New Delhi shopping, Rajasthan etc. If you wish to include those, I would suggest going AFTER the Intensive, then you’ll have your “India Legs” and be ready for travel around the country!
Fly Wednesday, March 12 evening from JFK or Newark.
Arrive New Delhi Thursday, March 13 late night/midnight.
Overnight car service directly to Rishikesh from airport.
Arrive Rishikesh early Friday morning March 14.
Rest/get oriented, take small day trip, local shopping Saturday & Sunday.
Course starts Monday March 17.
Sunday, March 23, Easter, Day Off, optional day trip will be planned.
Tuesday, March 25 last day of Course. Closing Party and Kirtan in Evening after class.
Depart Wednesday lunchtime March 26.
Car service directly to airport. 5-8 hours.
Fly out from New Delhi Wednesday, March 26 late evening or Thursday, March 27 early hours of morning (Note: Most flights out are around 1am, please be clear when booking your flight that you are not leaving on Wednesday night! You want Wednesday night/Thursday morning. This gets very confusing.)
Arrive Thursday, March 27, lunchtime JFK/Newark.
Flight costs are approximately $1200-1600 right now on most major airlines.
When you have your flight booked, send me the information and I will help you arrange car service from New Delhi to Rishikesh with other yogis arriving that night.
