This year I have really great Sub Teachers available for emergencies.
Please check them out and continue your practice!

SUNDAY, GENERAL LEVEL, 10-11:30
INA BECKER, MD, PhD
has been practicing and studying yoga since 1992, initially at Jivamukti Yoga in NYC and since 1998 intensively with Richard Freeman in the Ashtanga & Iyengar traditions. She met Barbara at the Longevity & Optimal Health Conference at Menla in 2006 and has been studying with her ever since. Ina has taken part in the two week Intensive in Rishikesh, India with Barbara and Usha Devi in 2007. While meditating and studying Buddhist psychology since 1996, she incorporates it in her capacity as Attending Physician at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center where she integrates yogic self-healing principles into Western Medical Care. Ina will be teaching the Sunday Morning General Level Class at it’s new Winter time from 10-11:30.  tel: 845 300-1768

MONDAY, LEVEL I BASICS, 10-11:30
JULIE KIRKPATRICK
began studying yoga  in 1986, at Jivamukti Yoga in a NYC basement on Avenue B, completing the Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training program in May 2003 and passing the Jivamukti Advanced Certification Board in 2005. Julie teaches according to what she has learned (and continues to learn!) in her alliance with David Life and Sharon Gannon of Jivamukti Yoga, always using their creative teachings as her source of inspiration. Julie teaches a class, “that she would like to take herself.” As a close friend in my extended yoga family, Julie is taking on the challenge of teaching the Level I Basics Class on Mondays at 10-1130 based on the Basic Class format of Jivamukti Yoga.  tel: 845 679-3482

TUESDAY, SATYA YOGA – GENERAL LEVEL, 6-7:30 PM
WEDNESDAY, LEVEL I-II, 4:30-6 PM

SUSAN TVEEKREM
has been teaching yoga since 2002 and is certified by the Yoga Institute of Houston. Currently a student of Barbara’s, she began her Iyengar studies twelve years ago with Sandra Kopell in Connecticut, and has taken intensive courses with Peentz Dubble, Joan White, and Kevin Gardiner. Susan holds an MA in World Music from Wesleyan University, where she studied South Indian classical music with T. Viswanathan. She has been to India three times to study and perform, and toured for several years with the Balasaraswati Music and Dance ensemble. Susan continues to study Sanskrit, Hinduism, and Indian philosophy, and currently teaches yoga for the Master of Fine Arts program at Bard College. Susan will be teaching the Satya Tuesday night class, 6-7:30 and the Wednesday Level I-II Class using sequences and points learned at the North East Iyengar Conference she attended this past fall.  tel:  845 380-1846

FRIDAY, LEVEL II-II, 10:45-12:45
JESSICA BECKER
has been a teacher of yoga for 10 years in the Hudson Valley. Her initial yoga teaching certification was given by Don Stapleton (Kripalu) in Interdisciplinary Yoga. Since then, her studies have drawn her to the Iyengar Method and she has been teaching exclusively Iyengar yoga for 3 years, and has just passing the first step of her Teacher in Training Iyengar Certification, under the mentorship of James Murphy at the Iyengar Institute of New York.  She has studied with Mary Dunn, Manuoso Manos, Kevin Gardiner and Glenn Black. Jessica will be teaching the Level II-III Class on Fridays, 10:45-12:45 using her sharpened Iyengar Teacher Training skills to bring all students up to a true NY Level II.  tel:  845 758-3777

SUB FOR THE SUBS

JOE BARTUSIS has been teaching yoga since 2003 when he became a certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher. At that time he also began practicing Iyengar Yoga with Barbara. As his interest in Iyengar Yoga increased he began to take workshops and regular classes at the Iyengar Institute in New York City with Kevin Gardiner. This training and his continued practice led Joe to begin teaching Iyengar Yoga and to join Joan White’s Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Program in Philadelphia in 2006. In 2008 Joe met Christian Pisano, a Senior Iyengar Teacher from Nice, France. He has taken a two week intensive with him in France, brought him to Woodstock in 2009 for the Winter Woodstock Yoga Intensive and has developed a sense of awe of what can be done and where we could go with yoga.  Joe will be subbing for Jessica on some of the Friday Level II-III classes.
